Curtis Sanford
Written by Marty Coffey
Curtis Sanford was not a draft choice, but picked up as a free agent. He is currently with the NHL’s St. Louis Blues. Prior to that, he had a long and storied career in various minor leagues. He began with the Owen Sound Platers of the Ontario Hockey League or OHL in 1996. After several other small-time gigs, he settled in with the AHL’s Worcester Icecats. His first appearance as a St. Louis Blues player was October 17, 2002. Sanford has had a small list of in-game injuries that have caused him to miss many games. In December of 2005 he strained a hip and had to be helped to the bench. Shortly after his return in February, he had to leave another game because of back spasms. Finally, in March of 2006, he sprained a ligament and missed the rest of the season. Having such a history in the lower leagues, Sanford is a seasoned vet who is still relatively new to the NHL. His overall NHL save percentage stands at 90.9%. Making his free agent days a thing of the past, Sanford was re-signed by the Blues on September 10, 2004. Mental Goaltending Home Page Order Page
