Dan Turple
Dan Turple, who played for Oshawa and Kingston of the OHL, before being drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2004 is one of the fastest rising young goaltenders in the game today.
He was born in 1985 in Oakville, and started playing ice hockey at the tender age of eight years. In fact, it seems he chose goaltending on the spur of the moment, not fully known what he was getting into. This happened when he went for novice registration. His mother asked him what he would like to do. And he responded that he wanted to be a goalie.
Dan has never looked back after that. Over the years he has adopted the butterfly style though he is quite comfortable playing as stand-up goalie too. His 6’5’ frame makes him particularly suitable for the butterfly because he blocks most of the goal making it difficult to get anything by.
Dan has already made his mark in goaltending, and seems headed for a bright future. He is quite popular with his team members and has started building a small fan flowing. Much will depend on the kinds of contracts he gets, and how he performs against top ranked teams.
