Dustin Slade
Dustin Slade is a young goalie who everyone knows has the makings of a star but who is yet to make it big time. Several commentators compare his career to that of Ed Belfour and Curtis Joseph, two goaltenders who took considerable time before being acknowledged as all-time greats.
Slade started his junior career with the Quesnel Millionaires in the British Columbia Hockey League. At that time he was 16 years old, and his team was a struggling a lot. Yet he amassed a 15-23-0 record with a 4.18 GAA and a .898 save percentage.
Slade moved to Kamloops Blazers in the 2003-04 season before going on to play for Brandon Wheat Kings and Regina Pats. He distinguished himself with all three teams. But then he walked out of Regina Pats after a series of spats and joined Surrey Eagles of the BCH. This was a bad move even though Slade led the Eagles into the playoffs. It ruined his chances of going back to the WHL.
But then Slade’s hotheadedness has been his greatest enemy. He has fought with team mates, coaches and team managements. This has given him a bad name, and despite his proven talent made teams wary of acquiring him.
However, it is only a question of time before Slade’s poise, skill and potential takes him to greater heights. Click here to add this page to your favorites
