Ilya Bryzgalov

Standing 6 foot and 3 inches tall and weighing in at nearly 200 pounds, Ilya Bryzgalov is a powerhouse of a goalie.  Good net coverage is the first step to successful goaltending, and size alone gives Bryzgalov an advantage in this department.
He was picked by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 2nd round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.  He was the Ducks’ 2nd pick, and the 44th overall pick.
Bryzgalov is a big name in hockey right now, because of not only his excellent size and skills, but his international experience as well.  He began his career in his native Russia before coming to North American hockey.  He also played for Russia in the 2002 Olympics, guiding his team to a Bronze medal.  He represented Russia in the 2004 World Cup of hockey as well.
He and Anaheim have stuck together, and it looks as if they both want to have a long and prosperous career together.  Ilya’s only weakness may be an over-reliance on his size and a need to increase his agility to become a well-rounded and perfected player.  With or without improvement, he is a force to be reckoned with in the game of hockey.
