John Grahame
J
ohn Grahame, currently the goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes, started out his NHL career with the Boston Bruins and, then, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Before joining with the NHL’s Bruins, John Grahame spent the 1998-1999 season with the AHL’s Providence Bruins. John Grahame set the year’s record in the AHL with a nineteen win consecutive streak for the Providence Bruins. His team also won the Calder Cup that year. His NHL career has had far more ups and downs. John Grahame spent some years as the back up goaltender for his teams but finally, in the 2005-2006 season became the starting goaltender for the Lightning.
As a back up goalie, he had assisted in leading the Tampa Bay Lightning to their 2003-2004 Stanley Cup victory. Therefore, when he was promoted to their starting goalie for the 2005-2006 season, everyone had high hopes for the son of former NHL goaltender Ron Grahame. Unfortunately, John Grahame did not demonstrate any real consistency and ended up a great disappointment for the team. He would occasionally surprise the crowd with a shut out, but then the next night he would blow it all with an extremely poor performance. John Grahame was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2006 draft and is currently working his way back up from back up status.
