Justin Pogge
Justin Pogge is an exciting young goaltender who has already captured his country’s attention by leading Team Canada to the 2006 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships gold. The victory was all the more sweet because Team Canada blanked Team Russia 5-0. It pitched Pogge into stardom, making him Toronto’s golden boy,
Pogge’s fortunes had taken a giant step forward when he was signed for a three-year period by Toronto Maple Leafs in December 2005. Before that he played for Calgary Hitmen as an amateur ice hockey player in WHL.
This 6 ft 3 in goalie, whose hometown is Penticton in British Columbia, has already built a name for himself as a cool customer. He can be depended upon to keep his cool when it matters most; when the rival team strikers are all over his goal.
His size is very useful, and he has great reflexes. He can anticipate the movement of rival forwards, and get himself in the right position. It is this ability that has paid the highest dividends because it makes goal scoring against him very difficult.
Pogge also plays the angles well, and is quick on the rebounds – abilities that should take him quite a way forward. Click here to add this page to your favorites
