NHL Goalie Updates

Goalie

Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin has been extra sharp since returning to NHL action from a broken finger. Sunday he had a heroic 37-save outing but the Vancouver Canucks only needed two to win 2-1 at home.  Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo had 22 saves in the win.  "Nik was very, very good for us," Chicago coach Trent Yawney told the AP.  "We just didn't support him with enough offense."

It wasn't a night for the goalies to shine in Anaheim as the Ducks bested the Phoenix Coyotes 6-4.  Anaheim goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere notched the win with 24 saves, and Coyote counterpart Curtis Joseph had the same.  The win tied Anaheim with Buffalo atop the NHL standings.

After winning his last five starts, Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Johan Holmqvist ran into a New York Rangers team that overpowered their visitors 4-1 behind Jaromir Jagr's 600th NHL goal.  Ranger goalie Henrik Lundqvist had 27 saves in the win, 13 in the third period as he lost his shutout bid with under three minutes remaining.
