Pekka Rinne

Become a better goalie, guaranteed...2CD Special

Pekka Rinne was born on November 3rd, 1982 and is a Finnish by birth. He is a professional ice hockey goalie and plays for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL) currently. In Karpat, he has developed and played in their junior team during the year 2000-03. He played for the men’s team after that in a championship during the years 2004-05. He played mostly as a backup to the player Niklas Bäckström. He has grown up watching his cousin playing as a goalie. His cousin was a great influence in shaping up of his career. His main aim was to get a good and strong training and be the best goalie.

Pekka Rinne was drafted as 258th overall in the 8th round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 by the Nashville Predators. On August 23rd, year 2005 the Predators signed him. Thus Rinne’s career began to roll. He began his playing career in North America along with the top minor league affiliate of the Predators known as the Milwaukee Admirals. At first Pekka Rinne played as a backup for Brian Finley. Brian played poorly and hence Rinne made a good start at his goalkeeping job. During the summer season of 2006 Rinne was attacked by some assailants. He got injured. His shoulders dislocated. He underwent a big surgery and missed the first four seasons of the game.

Rinne appeared in two games of the NHL along with the Nashville Predators in the years 2005-06 seasons. Rinne completed a record of 1-1-0 with a .900 save percentage and a GAA of 3.80. The Nashville Predators followed the performance of Dan Ellis in the year 2007-08.The starter Chris Mason was swapped to the St. Louis Blues. Rinne was called to act as a back up to Ellis during the year 2008-09.

Rinne was the second rookie goaltender of the Predators to record a shutout on December 1st year 2008.Rinne recorded 9 wins in 12 games in February 1st 2009. He had a .944 percentage and a 1.72 goals against an average. Rinne got selected as the NHL rookie of the month. Rinne was a Predator who made a record of the 7th shutout of the season on March 14th. One of the great moments in the playing career of Rinne is when he played in Finland and won two championships during the year 2004-05. This championship was very special because it was in his hometown where the matches were held. The other great moment in his career was when he made up to the Calder Cup finals along with the Milwaukee in the year 2006.This game was unfortunately a loss where Hershey won the Cup. In Finland the game is a bit different as because most of the Finland is covered with ice all over. The players get enough time to practice their games. The game is more of the north-south style in North America. Besides Nashville Pekka Rinne visited many NHL cities. He liked Canadian NHL cities mainly because hockey is a big game in Canada.
