Ray Emery

Ray Emery was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1982.  His hockey career has been highlighted with some very interesting fights, especially considering the fact that he is a goaltender.

Emery was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2001, despite having a horrific season in the Juniors with the Sault St Marie Greyhounds, in which the team went 18-29.  Despite the doubtful statistics, however, the Ottawa scouting proved to be right on the money once again, as Emery set a new National Hockey League record in the 2005-2006 season for the most wins to start a career with nine.

With an injury sustained by Senators starting goaltender Dominik Hasek in the 2006 Winter Olympics, Emery has filled the gap nicely and again had his name added to the National Hockey League record books, by winning 12 games in the month of March to tie the record held by Bernie Parent.

In January of 2006, Emery was the subject of some controversy in Ottawa when he donned a mask that depicted legendary boxer and convicted criminal Mike Tyson.  Emery decided to no longer wear the mask after meeting with Ottawa management.

Emery currently boasts an incredible 22-7 Win/Loss record for the 2006 season, and with the Dominator still questionable he may be the go-to guy for the playoffs.Click here to add this page to your favorites
