The Key Success Factor in Coaching Any Sport

It doesn’t matter what you may coach. It could be baseball, football, basketball, soccer, or hockey. It doesn’t matter the size of the team or who the players are. In order for a coach to be successful and guide his team to victories on a consistent basis, he/she needs to have one goal in mind that he/she must accomplish. This one goal will ensure that the team he/she coaches will play to their full potential and give the game their heart and soul. What one attribute will the coach need to be successful in running his/her team? This is an attribute that all coaches need. What is it? This attribute is motivation.

Yes, in order for teams to win on a consistent basis the team must be motivated to play hard and consistent. They must have a set goal in mind for why they are playing on an everyday basis. You as coach must instill in them the desire to play hard, because by doing so they will have accomplished a feat that not too many teams get to do. Be winners.

But motivation does not always come easy and automatically. This is a trait you have to work at each day with your players. Perhaps you can start them out with an inspirational though for the day. You can also show much enthusiasm in the way you want them to play. Enthusiasm does rub off. The more you show, the more your players will get pumped and respond. So make sure you create an atmosphere of motivation not only in the clubhouse but also in the dugout and on the field as well.
